In boxing parlance, the “forgotten arm” describes the perception of having been hit so many times with one of your opponent’s fists that you literally forget they have a second arm until they’ve clocked you with it.
I have trouble referring to any of the administration’s appointments, orders, or rhetoric as “distraction,” as I feel it that term in particular leaves us in peril of thinking that the so-labeled action isn’t as dire or harmful as it is. And all of it is, in some way, harmful.
Those which are not haymakers are still jabs and crosses. The behemoth across from us is not interested in a win by decision, and the referees keep getting dismissed and replaced with bookmakers. The bell alone is not going to save us. The nearest bell is two years away.
