I’m not joining in the chorus of voices expressing skepticism at the existence of nine year-old Dylan, aka “Pickle,” whose letter of praise for the president was read aloud at the start of today’s White House press briefing. I don’t like the idea of a family having to come forward and prove the existence of their own child for political reasons, because that’s taking a day trip into Sandy Hook Truther territory and nobody should ever set foot in such wastelands.
But I will say this: If I presume that Dylan is real, the photo of the letter that Press Secretary Sanders released is supposedly the work of a 3rd or 4th grader, and the level of spelling and handwriting is cause for some concern.
And if Dylan is not real, then the people who created the fake letter believe that this should be a reasonable and accurate portrayal of a 3rd or 4th grader in America today, which is cause for a different kind of concern, especially when your Secretary of Education is Betsy DeVos.
And regardless: Opening any press briefing with letters of praise for the president is textbook fascist regime nonsense.
